The local option

What Tampa does with Christmas trees

The City of Tampa collects Christmas trees at no extra charge. In 2026 collection began January 2. Remove all lights and decorations (put them in your garbage cart), cut the tree into four-foot lengths, bundle it and set it at the curb on your regular yard waste day. Call the Tampa Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811. New Tampa residents are served by Hillsborough County instead: call (813) 272-5680.

Any Pinellas County resident can drop off a natural tree with the tinsel, lights and ornaments removed at the Pinellas County Solid Waste Disposal Complex, the Safety Harbor Yard Waste Transfer or Angelo's Recycled Materials (GFL Environmental), and the trees are turned into mulch. Fees can apply, so check before you go.

Check the current year

Tree programs change from season to season. Confirm the current rules with the City of Tampa or look up your address at pinellas.gov/where before you count on a date.

When to call us instead

When hiring us beats waiting on the city

Call us if you want the tree gone on a set day, if it is a big tree, if there are stairs or a long carry, if you live in a building where the city will not collect, or if you missed the collection window. We send one flat price from a photo and it does not change at the truck.
