Why people call us here

Gulfport's bulk pickup has a price list

$26 an item, $52 for an appliance

Under the current ordinance a single special-pickup item runs $26, a white good such as a fridge, washer or range is $52, a vehicle tire is $26 and a car battery is $14.50 — all billed as an extra line on your utility bill. Add up a bedroom or a garage corner and the number stops being small.

Excess gets hauled whether you asked or not

This is the part that surprises people. Excessive accumulations of trash, debris or brush may be removed by the city with or without notification from the owner, and the load is charged to the utility bill at a rate based on its size and the equipment used. Nothing is permitted to accumulate for longer than 72 hours.

One yard-waste pile a week, and it's measured

Trimmings get collected on Wednesdays — one neat pile per residence, no more than 3.5 feet high by 4 feet wide by 4 feet long, nothing over four inches across, and clippings and leaves bagged. Past that it becomes a billable special pickup. Hired lawn and tree contractors are required to remove their own debris, and leaving it for the city can bring a fine.

Where we work in Gulfport

The alleys are the whole logistics story here

A lot of Gulfport collects from improved alleys rather than the street, and they're narrow, fenced and occasionally shell. We run a trailer, which is usually what makes it workable.

The waterfront and Beach Boulevard district

Small bungalows on small lots, most of them served from the alley. Rarely a huge job, almost always an access job — and the difference between an hour and an afternoon is knowing which alleys you can actually turn around in.

Town Shores and the condo blocks

Unit turnovers, downsizing moves and estate clear-outs. These buildings generally want a service elevator reserved, a loading window agreed and a certificate of insurance on file before anyone starts carrying furniture through a lobby.

The 49th Street and Stetson side

Larger single-family lots, garages, workshops and sheds. Garage clear-outs, workshop breakdowns and the heavier one-off items — the freezer, the treadmill, the workbench that was built in place.

Straight answer

Sometimes the city is cheaper, and we'll say so

If you have one couch to get rid of, Gulfport will collect it for $26 and we charge $99. The city is cheaper and we're not going to pretend otherwise. Call Public Works, schedule it, put it at the curb or the alley, and keep your seventy dollars.

The math turns over somewhere around four or five items, or the moment timing matters. Five pieces of furniture is $130 on your utility bill and a scheduling call; a 1/8 load with us is $165 all-in, gone this week, with the space swept behind us. A fridge, a washer and a couple of chairs is $130 to $156 through the city, and you're still moving them to the alley yourself.

And there's the 72-hour rule. If a pile sits, the city can remove it and bill you for a load priced on its size and the equipment used — a number you don't get to see in advance. A published flat price and a booked window is the thing that ordinance can't do for you.

Questions

What Gulfport customers ask

Is the city cheaper than you?

For one or two items, usually yes — $26 an item, $52 for an appliance. We'll tell you when that's the better move. It stops being cheaper around four or five items, or as soon as you're working to a date.

Do you charge extra for Gulfport?

No. Same flat card as everywhere: $99 for a single item up to $595 for a full truck, with labor, hauling and dump fees included.

Can you work from the alley?

Yes, and often it's the only sensible option here. We run a dump trailer rather than a box truck. Tell us the address and we'll figure out the approach before the day.

What about Town Shores or another condo building?

Fine — just tell us the building. Most want the service elevator booked and a certificate of insurance on file. We're licensed and insured and can send ours ahead of time.

How fast can you get to Gulfport?

Often the same day, and rarely more than 48 hours. We're ten minutes away, so it's a normal service day rather than a trip.
