An honest guide to the city's free special pickup: what is covered, where it stops, and how to book it.
St. Petersburg's Beyond the Bin special pickup collects up to three cubic yards of furniture, carpet and appliances for free, plus small amounts of tires, batteries, doors, windows, cabinets and propane tanks. Anything outside that list, such as building materials, brush or large amounts of accumulated waste, is billed by the city at $25.65 per cubic yard.
We are a St. Pete junk removal company and we will tell you honestly: for a couch and an old dryer, the city is the cheaper answer. Here is where the line falls.

Two cabinets, two doors, two windows. A kitchen or bathroom remodel goes past that within the first hour, and building materials are not on the free list at all.
For anything not on the free list, you submit a request, Sanitation estimates the cost from the quantity, and you confirm the fee before a truck comes. The rate is $25.65 per cubic yard.
Free items are scheduled by Sanitation, and the city does not publish a guaranteed timeframe. If you have a closing, a move-out date or a tenant turnover, a set day matters.
Submit a request through SeeClickFix at stpete.org/action-center.php. A photo of the items can speed up the request. Put the items where your trash is normally collected, in the alley if that is where it goes, or at the curb.
City of St. Petersburg Sanitation (not Curbside Brothers) takes special pickup requests by phone at (727) 893-7398.
The city runs recycling and brush sites where St. Pete residents can drop off yard waste and recyclables at no charge with a driver's license as proof of residency. For a load of palm fronds and a free Saturday, that beats paying anyone, us included.
Remodels, whole garages, estate cleanouts, anything over the free-list caps, or any job with a date you have to hit. We send one flat price from a photo in about ten minutes, and it does not change at the truck. You can see the whole card in our junk removal cost guide.
